Volunteer Waiver & Release of Liability
I am signing up freely and voluntarily to participate in a Kickoff Clean ATL cleanup session (the “Session”) at a MARTA station or other Atlanta location.
What I understand about the work
The Session involves manual cleaning in and around a public transit station — sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, removing trash, cleaning surfaces, and other physical tasks — in a public space alongside other volunteers and members of the public.
Risks I accept
The work involves real risks, which may include but are not limited to: slips, trips, and falls; contact with sharp objects (needles, glass, metal); contact with bodily fluids or biohazardous material; exposure to dust, fumes, or cleaning agents; heat, cold, or weather exposure; muscle strain or other physical injury; and risks from proximity to MARTA trains, vehicles, or members of the public. I am physically able to do the work I’m signing up for, and I will tell the on-site lead if I’m not.
My agreements on the day
- I will follow all safety instructions, wear the provided PPE (gloves, vest, eye protection, mask), and stop work and notify the on-site lead if I feel unwell or unsafe.
- I will not enter any restricted area without authorization from MARTA staff.
- I will not bring or use any cleaning agent, equipment, or tool that hasn’t been provided or approved by the on-site lead.
Release of liability
In exchange for being allowed to participate, I release, waive, and discharge Kickoff Clean ATL, its founder Ernest Timothy, the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), the City of Atlanta, and their respective officers, employees, volunteers, and agents (collectively, the “Released Parties”) from any and all claims, liabilities, demands, actions, or causes of action arising out of or related to any loss, damage, injury, or death sustained while participating in the Session — except where caused by the gross negligence or willful misconduct of a Released Party.
Medical
I authorize the on-site lead to seek emergency medical treatment on my behalf if I am injured and unable to consent. I am responsible for the cost of any medical treatment I receive. I will inform the on-site lead of any medical condition, allergy, or medication that could affect my safety during the Session.
Volunteers age 16–17
A parent or legal guardian must be physically present at the Session and must sign the on-site waiver before the volunteer can begin work.
Governing law
This waiver is governed by the laws of the State of Georgia. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remainder stays in force.
